The general strike and riots of the Paderians themed “RDC AND DPC OUT” started on 6th December 2021 on Monday after residents took out to the streets burning tires and pouring rubbish on the streets after a small group of; quote the LCV Mr Obwoya Fearless “unsanctioned disruption of people businesses” as they raided and destroyed vendors roadside merchandise, beat-up other vendors and chased them around. Many bullets were fired, residents battererd and rubber bullets also hit many and some were arrested. The mayor of Pader calmed rioters who had taken to the streets at 8pm mostly youths whose Soccer watching got ruined by the LDU; by paying for an overnight Disco at Oasis bar and disco hall. He further calmed them down by assuring them of a general town meeting at the Mayor’s garden at 9am sharp.

Residents of Pader district gathered early for the meeting even before 9am waiting to be addressed by the RDC and the DPC who failed to show up, the LCV and Mayor showed up tried to calm people down in vain. The angry residents then marched to the district Headquarters and destroyed targeted office of the RDC and DPC which ended with the police shooting rubber bullets and injuring a few rioters, that however just seemed to anger the mob as many moved back to the town and started destroying property and beating people who have not closed their businesses for the joint strike.

By 2pm the riots had subsided as a heavy deployment of UPDF soldiers from Achol pii 5th Division in Pader town council, the UPDF teamed up with the police, heavily armed they took to the streets bringing temporary order as I write this.

Pader district is one of the three major Northern Ugandan districts occupied by the Acholi people, Every Northerner has Gulu, Kitgum and Pader as the main districts of the Acholi people.

Despite being in the leagues of Gulu and Kitgum, Pader Town has really suffered serious blows from corrupt, lazy who stream development and favours towards their areas of origin (ps: one of the seed that germinated to the riots and strikes).
